The Quilt -- Triangles II

I made this quilt for my sister for Christmas. I had been eying a triangle quilt I had seen on Tumblr for a while. First I made a blue and green (with some surprise purple triangles)triangle quilt top, then I moved on to this triangle. I had been eying the brown fabric for weeks, but I just did not know what to do with it and then while thinking about a challenge quilt in progress I found these other tan/green/blue brown prints and I knew just what to do with it.

My two tables have leg extenders which simply slip over the legs and make the tables about 8 inches taller than standard. I really like working at the tables with the leg extenders (I pay bills and sort papers standing at a single table). The extra height can make it a little bit hard to reach to the very center of the two of them together, but the height makes standing so much easier on my back -- easier than crawling round on the floor let alone working at a standard low table.

The back is a lovely snugly flannel with colours that are a beautiful match for the colours of the quilt top.

Progress Made

I've been actively working on too many quilts at once. It not only makes a mess, it means that progress is hard to see. But finally I have some measurable progress. Actually, I think I finished two quilts, I have two quilts ready for quilting and the others, at least some of them are moving along.

I really love the way the actual quilting, finishes a quilt and I think the quilting of this one does its job.

Finally finished (actually I still need to make a name tag and sew it on the back).

This quilt took quite a long time. Actually the center went together pretty quickly, but then planing the border took a while and finding the fabric for the last bit of the border took even longer, but now the quilt is done.

Fractured Landscape

Finally this piece is finished and photographed. Each of the squares is about an inch and a quarter. The first of the half squares were pieces I trimmed off as I was making a bunch of flying geese. I simply cannot throw those little bits away. As I collected the bits and began laying them out, I made squares to order.

I have a large pile of these little squares in a wide selection of other colours -- (I make a lot of geese)lots of yellows and blues. Although I am looking forward to making another, I am going to procrastinate for a bit as this was labour intensive and slow going.

This quilt was hanging in a courtyard set up for eating so I could not get the whole quilt without people munching, tables and waiters, but I thought it was lovely (and not small) and I was saddened by the very low asking price.

UFO #4 joins the rank of the finished.

This is my third in the Seasons Series (I have begun working on a second version of Winter). It is intended to reflect a Willamette Valley Winter -- multiple shades of grey. Grey and more grey day after day. (It is virtually summer and it is still grey.)

Kitchen Nine Patch

Finally I have finished my second Nine Patch but I do not yet have a photo.

In the process of making the two quilts I made a few extra blocks. I decided to turn them into kitchen quilt potholders. And although this was a somewhat lazy decision and did not really fit into my plan to work on stretching my skills. I did do a little more quilting than is usual and I worked on quilting circles more or less free hand. So I stretched a little.
